LAHORE: Former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry hopped on to the bandwagon of politicians bashing the prime minister for not stepping down following allegations by the Panama Papers.
Addressing workers of his Justice Democratic Party on Saturday, he said, “Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been accused of money laundering but he is being stubborn about it.”
He added that if such allegations were leveled on a prime minister at any other country he would have stepped down,
“Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should step down till charges over him are investigated and he should nominate someone from his party to lead the country till then,” he said.
He said that the nation should unite “otherwise leaders will usurp all of its resources”.
“Our party will campaign to unite the nation,” he said.
The former chief justice said that if he were in power he would have done “what is right for the country”.
